History: Undo & Redo
Revisit Viewer actions, compare earlier states, and return safely to the latest work.
History records meaningful Viewer actions as a navigable timeline. Use it to inspect how a scene was built, recover from an unwanted change, or compare an earlier state with the latest state.
Open History
Choose History in the bottom utility bar. The panel opens above the bottom controls and follows the current Viewer workspace.
Navigate the timeline
| Control | Result |
|---|---|
| Back | Moves to the previous navigable action |
| Forward | Moves to the next navigable action |
| Play / Pause | Replays later actions automatically |
| Latest | Returns directly to the most recent state |
| Timeline row | Jumps to that recorded state when it is navigable |
| Clear history | Removes the current history log |
The current row is highlighted. If a selected action belongs to another loaded structure, the Viewer can activate that structure so the restored state and visible model remain aligned.

History and saved viewer sessions
History is primarily a working timeline. A saved viewer session is the durable checkpoint. Supported history information can be included with a saved session, but older snapshots may be reduced when the saved payload must remain within product limits.
Do not rely on History as the only record of consequential work. Save named viewer sessions at scientific or review milestones.
Clear history carefully
Clearing history removes your ability to navigate the current timeline. Before clearing:
- Return to the state you want to keep.
- Save it as a named viewer session.
- Confirm the save appears under File → Open session….
- Clear history only when the existing timeline is no longer useful.
History is not a scientific audit trail
History helps with Viewer navigation. It should not replace approved records, authored review notes, or formal audit systems. For a handoff, combine a named viewer session with clear annotations, descriptions, and project context.
